ING LeadersA new thrust for Women's Ministries, Incorporating Next Generation (ING) Leaders is about trust; it's about trusting God and trusting the younger women in our movement. With every generation, strong leaders must come forth for its ministries and outreach to continue. A recent study clearly showed that the face of Women's Ministries has been aging. We want to see that changed! Women's Ministries is encouraging leaders everywhere to help reverse that trend by involving themselves in this "faith-lift" called "ING Leaders." This new and bold endeavor will involve having ING leaders on the local, conference, and general levels. Initially, conference WM leaership teams are encouraged to take this to heart and begin reaching and involving ING Leaders on the conference level. As this takes hold, local WM leaders will follow. Identifying The first step is identifying next generation leaders. Every local, conference, and general WM director needs to be proactive in seeking out a woman under 35 with leadership potential. She is out there. Many younger women have given up on being used in the church and are busy making a difference in the secular world through their marketplace influence. But their hearts yearn for a place at the table of ministry. Perhaps the one you identify has never been a part of WM. That’s okay. She needs to know that we want her abilities to be used for Kingdom purposes. Incorporating Once identified, the next step is incorporating next generation leaders. It isn’t enough to notice her existence. We must include her. That doesn’t mean you invite her to your next meeting. ING Leaders is about offering her a place at the leadership table, right now. Once chosen, offer her a seat and voice at your board meetings. At the meetings, don’t just let her talk… actually listen to her. When planning for events, make sure she has a visible, meaningful purpose. This doesn’t preclude her help with ordinary, everyday tasks, but it does let her know she is valued. Your ING Leader doesn’t want you to change who you are. She does want you to embrace her as she is. Don’t try to make her be like you. Just give her a place. Inspiring Next, you must focus on inspiring next generation leaders. Make your ING Leader a regular part of your life of leadership. Whatever you are doing as the leader, bring her alongside. As she walks with you, she will soon catch hold of the fire that burns in your bones, the passion to see women operating in their gifts, and the urgency to touch unreached women around the globe with the power of the gospel. Inspiring ING Leaders to catch the vision of Women’s Ministries is one of the tasks you must accomplish as a WM director. Each year, begin a new ING Leaders relationship. The results for Women’s Ministries and the kingdom of God will be far-reaching. |
