Women's Ministries Day

Women's Ministries Day is observed each year on the second Sunday of March. Originally known as Founder's Day, it is in honor of Lila Berry, the founder and first general president of the women’s organization in the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.

A special program, focusing on women in ministry, is written each year and provided for use in a special church service. This program and other special items are offered on the WM download page to assist you in planning and implementing this special day in the local church.

Local churches are encouraged to receive an offering to help General Women’s Ministries. This offering should be sent through the conference WM treasury at the end of the first quarter (or as soon after you observe WM Day as possible).

2009 Theme:
"Embrace Today"

The 2009 IPHC Women’s Ministries Day offers an opportunity for every church to honor the women of the local church and celebrate their many contributions.  March 8, 2009, is a special service where we focus on ministry by and for women in our congregations across the world. This event is listed as an annual event on the IPHC calendar on the second Sunday in March. Check with your pastor to choose a date that works with the schedule of your local congregation.

Your prayers and support are vital to our IPHC General Women’s Ministries as we pursue ministry to women around the world (IPHC WM Director, Jewelle Stewart, ministered in Africa & India in 2007/8!) There are several tools to assist you with your WM Day program including a theme, program materials, and suggestions. The materials this year were written by General WM Board member, Rev. Carole Palmer. These resources are available free by clicking here or a hard copy can be ordered for a small fee. Feel free to add your own inventive touches and tweaks. Remember to advertise, advertise, advertise, and invite family/neighbors/co-workers/friends. Also included is a short form for you to complete and send back with your Holy Spirit inspired offering.

Our 2009 Women’s Ministries Day theme, “Embrace Today,” is a call to brain-storm Godly solutions to real problems/situations in a world full of trials and challenges. Women today undertake a myriad of responsibilities with very individual and wide-ranging demands. The events of our society touch us as Christian women and we must press in with shrewd and relevant solutions to some tough challenges.  Christian and non-Christian women and girls are calling out! Let us have ears to hear - compassion can build a bridge! Recently, a preacher stirred me when he said that ‘Jesus’ interactions rarely left people unchanged. It is not what we do but who we are and how we love.’ Like the apostle, Peter, let’s step out of the safety of our boats, in faith, and face into the wind of new challenges! Embrace Today! We are today’s women touching tomorrow’s world!
